A House with History
The Old Police House began life in 1834 as a humble farmer's cottage. Ten years later, in 1844, it was converted for a very different purpose — and became Fishguard's police house, complete with its own cell. That little room is still here today, and it's become one of the most talked-about features of the house — a genuine, tangible piece of the town's past that guests love to discover.
By 2015, the house had stood empty for two decades. Derelict, deteriorating, and largely forgotten, it needed someone to see past the damp and the dust to what it could be again. We saw a home. It took four years of careful, patient renovation to get there — respecting the building's age and character while quietly weaving in everything a comfortable modern stay needs. In 2019, we opened the door to our first guests, and The Old Police House began its second life.

The Bedrooms
The Purple Room
A rich, restful colour scheme sets the tone for this generous room, home to a comfortable kingsize bed — a lovely spot for a good night's sleep after a day on the coast path.
Prisoner’s Laundry
Utility Room
Once used to house prisoners, this small room retains its original door and fittings — a nod to its working past, now put to a far gentler use.
Today it's a fully functional utility room, keeping the practical side of your stay quietly out of sight.
The Orange Room
Warm and welcoming, the Orange Room offers a comfortable double bed, bright and full of character.
The Yellow Room
Sunny by name and by nature, the Yellow Room is furnished with twin beds. A lovely view of the garden.
The Original Cells
Prisoner’s Mess
The Dining Room
Once a prison cell, now it’s where guest gather to eat. The Prisoner's Mess keeps its original cell door and ironmongery, giving family dinners a genuinely unique backdrop — a room with history at every meal.
The Blue Room
A calm, cosy single room in soft blue tones — ideal for a solo traveller, an older child, or simply an extra guest rounding out the group.
Solitary Confinement
Shower Room
The most complete of the three original cells, Solitary Confinement retains its full original door, fittings, and — most famously — a functioning peephole. In the interest of guests' privacy (and dignity), we've sealed it from the outside with a cheeky "No Peeking" sign. It's become something of a talking point for guests during their stay.
The Garden
Behind the house is a lovely enclosed, sunny garden — a private, sheltered spot for morning coffee, an evening glass of wine, or simply letting the kids (and dogs) run around safely.

We had a great time staying in The Old Police House. The garden was thoroughly enjoyed by our 2 dogs. The house was lovely, spacious, clean and more than big enough for the 6 of us and the dogs. It had everything we needed and was a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire.
